Another Successful Mayor's Cup!

Thank you all for coming out to support the Mayor’s Cup Regatta this past Saturday, May 13. We had approximately 40 boats that competed on the river this year.

The following programs were very well-represented:

  • Medford

  • Malden

  • Everett/MVRCS

  • Somerville

  • St. Mary's of Lynn

  • Gentle Giant Rowing Club

  • Waynflete School of Portland ME

Although the competition was tough, the following Medford boats earned medals in their categories:

  • Boys Varsity Quad (Charlie Orcutt, Matt Stricker, James Sloan, James Cluggish, with Henrique Matos as coxswain)

  • Girls Varsity Double (Julie DesAutels, Coral Chaves)

  • Boys Novice 4 (Charlie Orcutt, Matt Stricker, James Sloan, James Cluggish, with Henrique Matos as coxswain)

  • Coed/Mixed Quad (Teagan Mustone, Amy Nguyen, Sarah Youssef, Jaylen Richardson, with Francesca Virusso as coxswain)

We congratulate the coaches and athletes of the Medford High School Rowing team and thank them for representing Medford in this annual regatta.

Many thanks to Tufts University (for continuing to offer access to their Boathouse and Dock) as well as the staff at River's Edge.

Much appreciation to all the parents and guardians who volunteered to make this event successful (the list of people and tasks are too long for this post).

Special thanks to Medford Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn for helping to host the event and for cheering on our Mustangs. Additional thanks to Somerville Mayor Katjana Ballantyne for supporting her Highlanders. We know your student-athletes did you both proud!

Special thank you to East Cambridge Savings Bank for sponsoring our Awards Ceremony
